Practice Nurse
We have a practice nurse who works closely with the doctors as part of our clinical team. She has specialist training in long-term health problems enabling patients to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Special interests include asthma, diabetes, heart disease prevention, women's health and travel advice. Appointments can be arranged with the nurse by telephoning 812000.
Health Care Assistant
We have a health care assistant who takes blood samples and blood pressures. She also checks urine samples, does ECGs and new patient checks. Please note that she is not a nurse.
Practice Staff
Receptionists / Administrative Staff
The receptionists will usually be your first point of contact with the practice. They are supported by various team members who provide clerical services. The receptionists are often busy with telephone calls and queries at the desk. Please be patient if you are kept waiting.
District Nurses
The district nurses provide specialist nursing care to patients who are confined to their home. Arrangements for this care are made by the doctor, hospital, or by self-referral. The district nurses can be contacted directly by phoning 812314.
Health Visitor
Our health visitor is a registered nurse with extra training in public health and family health, with a particular emphasis on child development. She sees all new babies at home once discharged from the midwife and then maintains contact with the family as required. The health visitor can be contacted directly by phoning 813722.
Practice Pharmacist
The practice pharmacist works closely with the doctors to address areas of prescribing concern. From time to time you may be invited to attend an appointment with the pharmacist to discuss your medication.
Macmillan Nurses
Macmillan Nurses work alongside doctors, nurses and other professionals to
meet the needs of patients suffering from cancer. They help the patients and
their carers receive the best quality of life possible. Requests for a Macmillan nurse
should be made via your doctor or other medical professional.
Medical And Nursing Students
Medical and nursing students will occasionaly attend the practice. We hope
that you will co-operate with us and help the students to learn about general
practice. Nevertheless, you will be informed of their presence in advance, and if
you do not want them to be present at a consultation, your wishes will be respected.
This will not affect your treatment in any way.
Community Midwives
Community midwives attend women before and after their babies are born, at
home or in clinics and classes. They act as a link between the hospital midwifery
unit and our practice. If you wish to contact a midwife about any problems please

For URGENT matters please telephone 01738 473425. This is manned 24 hours a day
and is the labour ward main line at Perth Royal Infirmary.
For NON-URGENT matters please telephone 01738 473406 and leave a message. This
is an answering machine and the midwife will call you back.
If your baby has a FEEDING PROBLEM please telephone 01738 473436 and leave a
message. This is manned 24 hours a day and is the Red Team postnatal ward at
Perth Royal Infirmary.
Locum Doctors
From time to time the practice employs locum doctors. The qualifications of these
doctors are fully scrutinised and the practice generally employs locums who have
had at some time an association with the practice.
